Unique Pickers Move to Point Clark, Ontario

2019 Brings in a New Year as well as a New Location for Unique Pickers by Debbie Harper

Point Clark is a lakefront cottage community on Lake Huron, in Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 15 kilometers south of Kincardine and 40 kilometers north of Goderich. First known as "The Point in 1850, it's name changed to "Clark's Point" and in the 1870's the town received it's current name "Point Clark".

Point Clark is best known for its lighthouse tower. The lantern in the lighthouse was first lit on April 1st, 1859 and in 1967 was designated as a National Historic Site by Parks Canada. There are tours of the lighthouse from mid-June to Labour Day and you can take the 114 steps up to the red-domed lantern room and look-out over the shores of Lake Huron.

Some of the most beautiful sunsets are on Lake Huron. This sunset shows the lighthouse in the distance.

Quiet sandy beach with a park-like setting equipped with a playground and washrooms. Also a perfect location to hold a Wedding Ceremony.

Upcycle with Flowers, by Debbie Harper

Looking to freshen-up some vintage finds. Take an old flour sifter and decorate with fresh flowers.
Set a container inside the sifter. Cut oasis to size, pre-soak and then place in the container. Add greenery and your favourite fresh flowers.

Kidd's Mill Covered Bridge, by Debbie Harper

Historic wooden covered bridge built in 1868. Located at Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
Rare example of a "Smith Cross Truss" Bridge.
Added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on December 2nd, 1974.
On a recent trip to Grove City, we decided to go for a drive in search of a covered bridge. Success! We found this gem on Kidd's Mill Road just south of Greenville. A little tricky to find but well worth the search.

Unique Pickers - Road Trip

Unique Pickers Head to Ottawa, by John and Debbie Harper

Our first official road trip takes us - via back roads - to our Nation's Capital, Ottawa.

An enjoyable trip with many attractions and things to do. Highly recommended ; Byward Inn as a place to stay downtown. (All rooms have a balcony!) Within walking distance to; Parliament Hill, Rideau Canal, Ottawa River Sightseeing Cruise, National Gallery of Canada, Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, just to name a few.
Can't be missed is the Byward Market with cafes, specialty shops and the famous Beaver Tails Pastries. We indulged in Chocolate/Banana as well as Apple/Cinnamon. Both were awesome!

Very picturesque city with many photo opportunities.
